Usage, in the open

Every Mac that lit the lantern.

These numbers come from the same anonymous launch ping described in the privacy policy: a few booleans and a version string, no identifiers, nothing that ties a count to a person. Here is all of it.

Daily active Macs

A Mac counts once on the first launch of each UTC day. Last 30 days.

Monthly active Macs

Counted once per Mac per calendar month. Up to the last 12 months.

Version split

Which build the active Macs are running, this month.

What these numbers are, and are not.

Aggregate counters only. Each figure is a single number in a table that goes up by one. There is no row per user, no way to go from a count back to a device or a person.
Client-side deduplication. Your Mac decides whether a launch is the first today or this month and sends a boolean. The server just adds it up. It never sees an identifier on this path.
Opt-out, in the app. Settings has a switch that turns the launch ping off entirely. Turn it off and this page simply stops hearing from your Mac.
Trial enforcement is separate. The one identifier Orthanc uses, for trial fraud prevention, lives on a different path and never feeds these totals. The privacy policy covers it in full.
